Edit, delete or pause a check-in response (or the check-in itself)
There are three different things people ask about, and they all live in different places. Pick the one you need:
| What you want | Section |
|---|---|
| Fix something I just answered (today’s reply) | Edit a response you submitted |
| Delete my reply for today | Delete a response |
| Change the questions, schedule, or participants of a check-in | Edit the check-in itself (settings) |
| Pause / stop a check-in for a while (no answers asked) | Pause or deactivate a check-in |
Edit a response you submitted
You can fix a submitted check-in on the web or in chat, within the rules your org uses for the reporting window.
In the web dashboard
- Sign in at app.dailybot.com.
- Open Check-ins and find the check-in you answered.
- Open your response for the relevant day or period.
- Change the fields you need and Save.
The dashboard shows your history by date; use the row for today or the reporting period you need. If you use multiple check-ins, open the correct one first so you do not overwrite another team’s answers.
In chat (Slack, Teams, Discord, Google Chat)
- When Dailybot shows your submitted summary or follow-up, use the Edit or Update action the bot provides (wording varies by platform).
- Follow the prompts to change answers and confirm.
Thread depth and button labels differ across platforms; if you do not see edit, open the web app for the same check-in and date.
Time window for edits
Edits are allowed until the check-in closes for that round: usually until the report is compiled or the deadline passes. If you no longer see an edit option, the window has ended; ask a manager if a correction is still required.
Some teams use hold until end of day or similar options; your edit window may extend until that cutoff even if an early summary was visible to you. When in doubt, edit as soon as you spot the mistake so the final report stays accurate.
Delete a response
- Open the same response in the web dashboard (or the chat thread where Dailybot recorded it, if delete is offered there).
- Choose Delete response or the trash/remove control if available.
- Confirm. The entry is removed from that round’s data.
If your role does not show delete, only a check-in owner or admin may be able to clear it. Contact them with the date and check-in name.
Editing a response may reset blocker flags tied to that submission. If you had marked a blocker or triggered AI-detected blocker state, re-check those fields after you save. See Setting up blocker detection and Blockers deleted on edit.
Edit the check-in itself (settings)
Different from editing your reply; this is for the owner who needs to change the check-in’s configuration.
- Sign in to app.dailybot.com.
- Open Check-ins in the sidebar.
- Click the check-in you want to change.
- Open Edit / Settings.
- Update what you need:
- Questions: add, reorder, or remove (changes apply to the next round; past responses keep the old questions).
- Schedule: days of the week, time, time zone (see scheduling).
- Participants: add or remove people.
- Report destination: where the summary posts (see report destination).
- Save.
Only the check-in owner, Team Manager of that team, or an Org Admin can change settings. Members see a read-only view.
Pause or deactivate a check-in
If you do not want to delete the check-in but you want Dailybot to stop asking for now (vacation, team paused, project on hold):
- Open the check-in in the web app.
- Open its settings.
- Toggle Active off (the label may say Pause, Deactivate, or Resume depending on the current state).
- Save.
What happens:
- Participants stop receiving prompts.
- No new compiled reports are generated.
- All past responses, questions, schedule, and participants are kept.
- The check-in disappears from the default Active list. Switch the filter to All to find it again.
To bring it back, open it and toggle Active on. Full steps in I deactivated a check-in and can’t find it – how do I reactivate it?.
Pause for a few days, not forever: use time off on individual members instead of pausing the whole check-in.
